Creating a Tumblr blog Tracker

Union Metrics blog analytics are designed to measure engagement around one blog per Tracker. You can create a Tracker for any public Tumblr - yours or a competitor's. To begin tracking, go to your Tracker listing page - (the bar graph icon at the top of your account). Click the "Start tracking" button, which will give you a drop-down menu, where you can select Tumblr blog.

  • Time zone: Select what time zone you would like your data to be displayed in. Please note once you begin tracking this cannot be changed.
  • Blog URL: Enter the URL for the blog you wish to track. If your blog redirects to an alternate URL, use that address instead - whatever is displayed in your browser's address bar.
  • Create: Click the Next button to begin processing your data. Within an hour or two, you will get a preview showing 7 days worth of historical data. Overnight, it will populate your Tracker with 30 days of backfilled data and update with new data daily.

If you're monitoring a blog you own (i.e. you have the password for the Tumblr account), you have the option to authenticate with Tumblr to track your blog's follower growth. (Please note: we will never post to Tumblr on your behalf.) Additionally, we also offer Google Analytics integration, which will show web visits to the Tumblr blog alongside our engagement metrics.
